WHY ESCAPE?

Published by Marylyn on

On March 20, after a stressful month of cancelling trips I had planned, begging for refunds, and reassuring clients…..I was able to see a bit of light at the end of the tunnel. If only I had known that now in July, the world would still be in a holding pattern. And, so much more has happened to affect our psyche as travelers, and as humans. Most people would want to “escape from reality”. I have been doing some amateur blogging since March 20 on my FaceBook page to inspire my contacts and friends to escape the worry of life during Covid-19, and to be entertained by my travel memoirs. When I decided to make it official and write a blog, I thought……Escape from reality? What is reality? Here are two definitions of reality:

1.the world or the state of things as they actually exist, as opposed to an idealistic or notional idea of them.

2. the state or quality of having existence or substance.

So, I have chosen option 2, and to name my blog, Escape To Reality. Yes we currently exist in a reality of upheaval, uncertainty, and volatility. My reality stems, however, from my inner substance and existence…..and that is to still wake up each day and count my blessings, to dream and write about adventures discovered and undiscovered.

I hope you will enjoy the journey.

just a few weeks before the world changed….

I joined the Travel Industry in 2012 after spending 20 years out of the workplace raising four sons. I decided it was time to jump back in, and I was inspired by my passion for travel to take a leap of faith and become a travel consultant. My husband and I have traveled with our four boys throughout the world, from all over Europe, to Tahiti, the Caribbean, and extensively throughout the United States. My claim to fame was the planning and orchestration of our 2 month long RV trip across the entire United States in 2006. It was unforgettable. The little details and the off the beaten track adventures are what I find makes the trip a success! I specialize in family travel, but can help with girlfriends' trips, adventure travel, and romantic getaways. I am a listener first, and then I consider the process a corroborative journey before the actual journey! During this crazy time of Covid-19, I found time to indulge in my passion of travel writing. I have written over the past few months on destinations that inspired me, and I hope that they have inspired my readers!!
